Shine a Light

Collaborative floor piece co-created with the pupils at StAgnes Catholic Primary School. Inspired by the rich history of Bow, eastLondon, including the Matchgirls Strike in 1888, Sylvia Pankhurst’s firstspeech in 1913. The pupils made drawings and cut-paper illustrations inresponse to the theme of standing up for what you believe in. Following a sitevisit to the passage, they were also encouraged to consider how their currentsurroundings made them feel, and how they might want to improve them. Usingthese archives the design was created for St Botolph’s Passage.
